Tournament Information

  1. Format: 4 rounds, AGA rules, with McMahon Pairing.

  2. Time settings: 30 minutes with 3 times 20-second byo-yomi. Clocks are started 5 minutes after the start of each round. The absent player will forfeit 15 minutes after the start of the round.

  3. Pairings use the McMahon system to pair players with similar ranks in each round.

  4. Standings:

    • Individual Standings - Brackets will be divided depending on the number of participants in each level range, approximately every 5 Go ranks. Prizes are awarded to the top three players in each bracket. All players must participate in all rounds to be eligible for individual prizes.

    • Team Standings – Players from the same school may form a team. A team with two players or more is eligible for team prizes. Schools with more than three participating players must decide on their three team players upon registration. Team scores are calculated by adding the final standings of three representatives from the same school. If a team has exactly two players, a “hypothetical 3rd player” with a final standing equal to the total number of participants plus one (last place) will be summed with the standings of the two players to determine their team score. Prizes are awarded to the three teams with the lowest team scores.

  5. Ten youth students from NYIG, selected by a qualifying match for this tournament, will participate but are only eligible for individual prizes.
